Day 1 at Cardigan

Day One: At Cardigan on day one, we went on a small nature loop hike. As we started, we saw all kinds of different mushrooms. Such as, the Shelf Mushroom, and Turkey Tail Fungi. The Turkey Tail Fungi frayed out in a kind of way that it looked like a tail. It has rings that go around it. They are a darker color than the rest of the mushroom. As we kept walking we went across a small bridge that covered a stream. Here, we sketched a leaf of our choice. I chose a small red maple leaf that had floated down to where I was sitting. We also saw an adult Red-backed salamander when we had stopped to sketch a tree. He was living under a small rock in the trail that a person in my group tripped over. As we were hiking, we were taught to always follow the trail markers. These markers are put down by AMC helpers to make sure that hikers dont get lost. They were all types of different colors, such as, white, yellow, and orange. These trail markers eventually led us to a small circle of tree stumps that seemed to be put down for hikers to rest, or to play a game. Our group took advantage of that. We were put into groups and started a sensory game. These are an example of Human Environment Interaction. Because, humans have put markers on the environment to help us. At the end we had a nice meal of spaghetti and meatballs and went for a night hike.
